The Male Essence de Perfume, the contemporary version of the myth

It was in 1976 that Jean-Paul Gaultier founded his fashion house, after having worked for fashion names such as Pierre Cardin, Jean Patou or Jacques Esterel. His style is quirky and unconventional. Nicknamed the “enfant terrible of fashion”, he particularly enjoys going against the grain of fashion. In 1983, Jean-Paul Gaultier launched the “Toy Boy” fashion, the man dressed in a blue striped sweater, which at the same time became his trademark. In 2016, Jean-Paul Gaultier reinterpreted his star fragrance in a more modern version with “Le Mâle Essence de Parfum” .

A new version of contemporary masculinity

In 1995, when Jean-Paul Gaultier released “Le Mâle”, the success was immediate. “The Male” reveals an extraordinary and authentic character, just like its creator. In 2016, the couturier decided to readapt his mythical essence into a more contemporary one. “Le Mâle Essence de Parfum” is the fragrance for self-confident men. Masculine and elegant, “Le Mâle Essence de Parfum” is nonetheless more sober than its predecessor. The bottle and the silhouette of the “Male” have also been revisited for the occasion, confirming this more elegant and more sophisticated aspect than its predecessor. With “Le Mâle Essence de Parfum”, a new chapter of the legendary “Mâle” is taking place.

The contemporary notes of the Male Essence de Parfum

To revisit its star fragrance, Jean-Paul Gaultier called on Quentin Bisch, an extraordinary perfumer. “Le Mâle Essence de Parfum” takes off on the ultra fresh notes of lemon, associated for the occasion with cardamom. The heart is meant to be masculine, first of all because it contains lavender, the emblematic ingredient of “Male”, but also because it is composed of scents of leather. The base continues its virile wake, as it combines notes of amber and vanilla, but also of costus, a plant root from China with an animal scent. As for the silhouette of the “Male”, it is somewhat modified. Leaning more back, her bust is refined by sporting strict and clear edges, offering a more contemporary look. Its iconic marinière has disappeared in favor of a polished glass,

Jean-Paul Gaultier revisits his legendary fragrance. Released in 1995, “Le Mâle” is a dazzling success. In 2016, the enfant terrible of fashion modernized its star fragrance by bringing it a breath of freshness and sobriety. As elegant as ever, “Le Mâle Essence de Parfum” features a slimmer silhouette in blue-gray tones for more chic.
